Vienna Chichi Lam
Graduate Researcher & Lab Supervisor, Centre for Forensic Research, Simon Fraser University
Vienna is a graduate researcher, educator, victim services caseworker, research ethics board member, and rescue (scuba) diver.
As the principal investigator, Vienna examines the effects of freshwater submergence on skeletal remains. She has since been awarded the Canadian Society of Forensic Science’s Education Award for her interdisciplinary research on bone decomposition, and two Vice-President Research Awards that enabled her to travel to the Kingdom of Tonga and northern China for archaeology. Her passions coalesce at the intersection of science education, criminal justice, and human rights advocacy. It is her goal to improve learning outcomes through public engagement and to encourage students to pursue higher education by showing them how academia can be a very rewarding and adventurous journey.
