Senior Lecturer , Anglia Ruskin University
I am a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head of Department at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. Prior to this, I spent a total of seven years studying at Keele University, Staffordshire, where I achieved an Undergraduate degree, Masters and PhD. As part of this, I have undertaken research in the construction industry, written a book chapter and published several academic peer reviewed papers.
To escape the pressures of my professional day to day life, I have a passion for sport, particularly cycling. This entails anything from a weekend club ride, to challenging my friends to a sprint in a velodrome! There is something exhilarating about the freedom of just going out and riding my bike - no pressures; no time restrictions, just laughter, the creation of memories, and of course, coffee stops!
I would describe myself as positive, spontaneous, caring and committed, with a healthy perfectionist attitude (if that is possible?!) which entails giving 100% in everything I do. My favourite motivational quote is: "Whatever you do, do with your might, for things done by halves are never done right"

When someone says they're a cyclist, what immediately comes to mind? This is a personal reflection on Steph Russell passion for cycling, what it does for me on a day to day basis and also the ups and downs of juggling a competitive hobby with an equally challenging professional job.
