Siobhan Martin

Freelance Weaver & Interior Designer, Shiv Textiles in Brighton & Hove United Kingdom

Graduated in 2016 from the University of Brighton with a First Class Honours Degree in Textiles with Business Studies BA(Hons).

​Siobhan has interned at international companies such as Woven Studios, Malhia Kent-Paris, Ben Sherman, Stephen Walter, David Walters, Humphries Weaving Company and Bliss Magazine. She now works part-time as an interior designer at Luke Williams Designs whilst running her woven textiles business.

​Inspired by colour, texture and pattern in traditional and contemporary
culture, Siobhan explores textures found in everyday life.

Strongly influenced by her Irish heritage, Siobhan spent many holidays growing up exploring the East Coast of Ireland. During her most recent visit to Ireland when she visited rural Donegal, her newest and most exciting theme yet, "beauty in decay", was born.

Siobhan launched Shiv_Textiles in September 2017, an contemporary textile Studio which is sustainably-minded based between her studio in Brighton. Specialising in woven textiles, offering unique contemporary soft woollen homewares & accessories, design consultancy services, commission weaving and handwoven fabric collections.

​The Studio aims to re-establish what local means alongside the global economies. Producing locally while inspiring and investing in creative community-driven workshops. Creating and promoting traditional craftwork in textiles. Focusing to minimise ecological damage while maximising the efficiency in production processes.
