Head of School, Alexandria Country Day School
Scott Baytosh is the Head of School at Alexandria Country Day School. Before joining ACDS in 2012, Scott was the Head of Buckingham Friends School in Pennsylvania, Director of Studies at Friends Academy in New York, Dean of Students and Academic Dean at Alexander Dawson School in Colorado, and Director of Technology at Sandy Spring Friends School in Maryland. Currently, Scott serves on the Boards of Emerging Scholars and the Virginia Association of Independent Schools. Scott 's son, Seneca, is a sixth grader at ACDS, his son, Zach, attends Brown University, and his wife, Katy, is an independent college advisor and owner of Baytosh College Advising.

According to Scott Baytosh, Head of School at Alexandria Country Day School, learning and magic are close cousins-- they both engender wonder, curiosity, and fascination. How can educators create these experiences? He suggests that we can look to teacher-archetypes in popular culture, such as Ms. Frizzle, Mary Poppins, and Professor Lupin, as role models and practical guides for keeping the magic in learning.
