Nathan Kipnis, FAIA is principal of Kipnis Architecture + Planning, founded in 1993 with 'High Design/Low Carbon™ as it's mission statement.
Mr. Kipnis' architectural work has been widely published both locally and nationally. He has received several awards and distinctions including being honored with a 2011 Green Award from Chicago Magazine, having his design built for the 'Green Homes for Chicago' international design competition, having his Sturgeon Bay Vacation Home being awarded 'Home of the Decade' from Natural Home Magazine, and designing the first new LEED Platinum home on the North Shore.
He is currently serving on the both the National and Chicago AIA's 2030 Working Groups, encouraging other architects in their effort to meet the AIA's 2030 Commitment. Mr. Kipnis has also been instrumental in helping to development the idea of an offshore wind farm off of Evanston's shoreline, whose concept received a Design Evanston Urban Design/Planning award.
An avid skateboarder/pool rider for over 36 years, Mr. Kipnis still enjoys street riding and pool riding, although the 'preparation time' has substantially gone up. He also skis, snowboards and surfs.
