Mark Timmins is an educator, sculptor, photographer and inveterate collector of things, based in Galashiels.
Educated at Liverpool Polytechnic in knitting and constructed textiles, chosen as one of 10 Royal Society of Arts “Young Designers into Industry” on graduation and spent 18 months as a fancy yarn designer, in one of the last UK fancy yarn manufacturers. Following this Mark went to St Martins in London to study fashion Knitwear and ended up designing for Marks and Spencer’s.
Mark was then employed as a knitwear tutor at the Scottish College of Textiles and spent 21 years, teaching young people about knitwear, design, drawing, and how to be a textile designer. Mark finally left and set up Dizzymafella, a design focused, small business and still works with young people through Works+ (an employability charity project, working with young unemployed people from across the Scottish Borders)
