Originally from Toulouse, France, Marie-Do Hyman-Boneu graduated from the ENSAD School in Paris in 1995 (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs). After graduating she remained in Paris to work as a stylist for fashion photographers.
In 1999 she left France with her husband for a two-year trek in a Land Rover named East Of Eden that took them across Europe and Asia all the way to Hanoi in Vietnam, where she studied the ancient art of lacquer as a painting technique.
The complexity of the lacquer process and the specificity of its textures has kept her passionate her ever since. She has exhibited her work in Hanoi, Toronto and Vientiane where she has been based since 2010.
