Mandela Barnes

State Representative, Wisconsin State Assembly in Milwaukee, WI United States

Representative Mandela Barnes is serving his second term in the Wisconsin State Assembly. He serves as the ranking Democrat on the Assembly Committee on Corrections this session. He will also serve on the Assembly Committees on Education, Small Business Development, and Jobs & the Economy. He is the Chair of the legislature's Black and Latino Caucus. Barnes graduated from John Marshall High School in 2003, and attended Alabama A&M University, before returning to Milwaukee in 2009. He has worked in the Office of Mayor Tom Barrett, the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board, and Milwaukee Inner City Congregations Allied for Hope.
