Madeline Ellis

"Stuff Maker", Mimosa Handcrafted in Baton Rouge United States

Madeline Ellis owns MIMOSA Handcrafted, a Baton Rouge based company focused primarily on creating handcrafted jewelry using the Lost Wax Casting method. After graduating in Landscape Architecture from LSU she worked for years as a landscape designer but her life-long love of 'making stuff' with her hands kept her up late at night and passing on weekend fun to nurture her endeavors as a jewelry artist. For over 5 years jewelry has been her full time job, and this month celebrates one year of MIMOSA providing 3 full-time jobs making stuff in Baton Rouge. Drawing from her career in landscape Madeline aims to create pieces that are layered in story, inspired by history, are functional, and that create a sense of self, community and place. She strives to use the stuff she makes as a way to tell a story that needs to be told, foster connection through culture & interest, and to be a catalyst for contribution.
