Leslie Tom is is fifth generation Arizonian. She recently moved to Detroit a year and a half ago for the Detroit Revitalization Fellowship and to serve as the Chief Sustainability Officer at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. She has experiences in both the field of architecture and software design. She has worked on master plans, new constructions, and historic preservation projects as well as mobile apps, tangible interfaces and wiki's.

She explains the importance her museum will be placing on educating the public on how they’re being energy responsible, being trusted community leaders as well as trusted information sources for the community.
From stormwater management to consumption, the future of the Wright Museum is rooted in transparency and bringing these issues to life; pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a museum.
