Jennifer Redstreake Geary
Graphic and web designer / Artist, UAH Earth System Science Center
Jennifer Redstreake Geary has been an artist since her wee young days back in New Mexico, where she grew up. Her parents were super supportive and encouraged her to “Keep at it” and by the time she was in her 20’s, she was doing what she loved, professionally. She fuels her creativity with green chili and tankards of coffee.
Graphic designer / web developer by day - watercolor artist by night and raiser of wild children (can’t forget that, as those kids keep her feeling young and spry!), Jennifer stays very busy creating and garnering inspiration from everyday things. Best known these last few years with her ball jar series, Jen has also dabbled in painting tiny little playthings who
get themselves into funny situations (her kids set up the scenes and she would paint them). She loves rendering complex florals in watercolor, any kind of fuzzy face you can think of and scenes that relax her, like a warm
summer beach. As you can see in her portfolio, her work is extensive, her genre, vast. There is nothing she won’t try (except painting before having coffee. Bad idea.)
Her process is simple: layers upon layers of transparent watercolor on Ampersand Aquabord (or Canson 140 lb watercolor paper). She uses the very best paint, Daniel Smith Watercolors, and her favorite Black Gold brushes by Dynasty. Depending on her mood, she either paints very detailed or super loose. Either way, usually she is happy with the outcome.
Jennifer’s art has been featured in many group and solo shows in the Tennessee Valley over the past 10 years. Her original work is sought out by collectors all across the globe. Her new paintings in the coming year will (hopefully) both please her collectors and attract new ones. Her paintings have been featured in national magazines and have been published countless times in local media. Her art is now finding new homes on a global scale thanks to licensing, so now everyone can enjoy the works of art that she has envisioned and created. She is now ] selling in Home Goods stores, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and other shops all across the nation and in Europe. This year she hopes she
can increase the amount of stores that sell her designs. Jennifer has 3 fabric lines, been the illustrator for several children’s books as well as a few technical text books for college. She has also won 3 ADDY awards for her design work.
Jennifer currently resides happily in Huntsville, Alabama with her partner in crime in a house full of crazy kids, fish and animals.
Reflections of a Space Cadet’s Artistic Daughter: The Journey from Selling to Commercially Licensing ART

Growing up with a physicist father and cowgirl mother, Jennifer Redstreake Geary has had quite the journey coming into her art and finding her place in the world. Her father, the Space Cadet, (having grown up watching anything Sci-Fi) always believed in her and encouraged her to pursue a living doing what she loved to do. Paint. Her mother, a constant stream of inspiration for that art, providing fur kids and gentle beasts to create in every medium she could get her hands on. Today, because of that parent’s love, she is a success. She loves her life. And she paints every day. Her work inspires humor and heart as she licenses her works all around the world. Come listen to her story.
