Artistic Director, The Studio on the Green
The Studio On The Green was founded in 1989 by Jenna Agate and Trevor Timms. After major fundraising, which facilitated the complete renovation of a run-down woollen mill in Selkirk, The Studio opened its doors for the first term of classes in the autumn of 1990 and celebrated it’s 25th year in 2015.
Jenna and Trevor's aim was to provide a professional quality dance studio where all members of the community, of all ages and abilities, could participate in classes and courses in dance, yoga, T'ai Chi, bodywork and physical therapies for their health, creativity and well-being.
The Studio was granted charitable status in recognition of the artistic, creative, educational and therapeutic nature of its work with all members of society regardless of age, race, sex or ability.
As well as regular, ongoing classes that run over three terms each year, The Studio has provided courses in diverse activities such as African Drumming, Crystal Healing, Meditation, Pilates, Indian dance, Egyptian Dance, Bodywork, Psychotherapy, Tibetan Singing Bowls, Ceroc, Ballroom Dance, Alexander Technique, Tap dance, Feldenkrais, Aikido, Acapella Singing, Reiki, Circle Dance, Dramatherapy and Massage.
Summer Schools and Performance Projects, such as The River Tweed Project, Arbour, Marshness, Hobbits, Habits and Hats, and Stories, Sculpture and Skipping Rope have given many adults, young people and children the opportunity to release their creative spirit, meeting others, developing skills and exploring artistic expression.
