Jay Kleberg is a producer and character in the feature documentary The River and Wall. He is the Associate Director for Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation where he is part of a team that conserves Texas’ most pristine lands to benefit wildlife and provide recreational opportunities to the public. He is a sixth generation Texan, born and raised on a working cattle ranch in South Texas. Jay is co-founder of a Brazilian-based Amazonian adventure travel and conservation organization and Explore Ranches, providing exclusive getaways to wild and scenic places. Jay lived in El Paso for eight years working in cities along both sides of the US-Mexico border. He has experience with multi-day expeditions, piloting a single-engine Cessna 5,500 miles from the Amazon to Texas in 2003, riding a mountain bike 2,700 miles across the Rocky Mountains from Mexico to Canada in 2011 and paddling 264 miles from the Texas Hill Country to the Gulf of Mexico as part of the Texas Water Safari in 2015. Jay lives in Austin with his wife and three daughters.

Jay Kleberg shares the story of a team of diverse adventurers embarked on an epic 1,200-mile journey along the United States/Mexico border, down the Rio Grande in December 2017 to experience the vast landscapes before further construction of a border wall. During the horse, mountain bike, and canoe-powered journey, they encountered personal stories from both sides of the border, examined differing immigration viewpoints, and explored the impacts to wildlife, public lands, private landowners, and all who call the borderlands home. The 72-day journey is part of the feature documentary THE RIVER AND THE WALL was released in 2019 and is available on itues movies.
