Artist, printmaker, painter
I am an artist who lives among many other artists in the remarkable small American Midwest town of Fairfield, Iowa. Although my background and education are in intaglio printmaking, the last decade has seen me working more with painting in oils and acrylic. I bounce back and forth between painting paintings and doing detailed decorative handpainting on wooden objects, fiber, and upcycled furniture which I salvage from junk piles and restore. I love color and pattern.
I am fascinated by my fellow artists spaces, whether a proper studio or a living space. In my mind, I can never separate an artist from their space, no matter how designed, cluttered, spare, intentional, or unintentional the space may be. One informs the other . The delight can be in a room, a corner, an object, an altar. Living in a creative community that I do, there are ample opportunities to enjoy these spaces as an extension of the artist and their art. This is what I wish to share with my PechaKucha contribution.
