Hamilton-born, Winnipeg-raised, David Lipnowski is an award-winning, full-time independent (freelance) photographer who started off his career in the photojournalism industry working his way up from the University of Manitoba’s student newspaper to being published in numerous international & prestigious media, including: The New York Times, USA Today, Macleans, The Globe And Mail. David has recently been concentrating his energy on portrait, commercial and communications/PR work for clients including: The Bay, Boeing, Nikon, United Way, Wal-Mart.
David also believes in giving back to the community through working with charities, and he is involved with the annual 'Help Portrait’ taking place this Saturday, and also volunteers as a photographer for Multiple Sclerosis Canada, Special Olympics Manitoba, as well as with CancerCare Manitoba.
In addition to commissioned work, David is a firm believer in creating high quality artistic/personal work, and will be speaking to us tonight about his long term personal project, titled 'a portrait a day: 2013'.
When not writing about himself in the third person, or behind the camera, David enjoys spending time with his partner Carole and their Golden Retriever Zoe. David also enjoys competitive cycling, cooking, camping, travelling, and going on adventures.

After years of taking portraits and noticing a lack of diversity in his portfolio, photographer David Lipnowski embarked upon a personal project that would consume his professional life for an entire year. He began taking a single, unique portrait daily as of January 1, 2013 and continued his task until the end of that year.
