I’m an actress/writer. I escaped from the former Czechoslovakia, lived in Israel, Greece, Italy and Germany, learned to dance in Harlem and Haiti, got my BA in Latin American, Portuguese and Brazilian Studies from Brown University, completed my pre-med requirements at Purchase, State University of N.Y. and to the shock of family and friends I pursued a career in the theatre arts. I never became a physician but I am a damn good script doctor:) I’ve performed in lead roles off-Broadway, LaMama and the Public Theatre. My television credits include “One Life To Live” and HBO’s “The Image” with Albert Finney. I starred in the independent film “Dirty Money” and “Tick Tick Tick” which premiered at Sundance. I’m currently writing a complex and yes funny solo play about being the daughter of a holocaust survivor. I live between Los Angeles, Asheville and NYC.
An Experiment in Creativity
BY DAGMAR STANSOVA
@ VOL 20
ON SEP 14, 2018
As a screenwriter, poet and script doctor Dagmar Stansova wanted to improve her writing, to free up her mind and she thought a great way to do that would be to do something about which she has no preconceived notions or training. Dagmar chose painting. She will share twenty paintings and one of the poems that came out of her Experiment In Creativity. Her hope is to inspire others to do something they’ve never done before. The poem is called “Laundry Day” in memory of her father.
