Your local HIV service agency CARES is here for your community. Beth Haire-Lewis and Chris Rice share the latest amazing scientific advancements on treatment and PrEP, a daily medication that prevents on HIV. We share a message of hope and love on today, December 1 - World AIDS Day.
BETH HAIRE-LEWIS was born and raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She currently works at CARES (Community AIDS and Resource Education Services) and enjoys her job where she helps people who are living with and affected by HIV find treatment, support, and lead whole healthy lives. Beth does community outreach about HIV awareness and health education. Ask her anything! She is a board member of the Out Center and NTAA, one of the MCs and Co-Chairs for the Gene Harris Coming Home Concert in Downtown Benton Harbor, performs with the band Sankofa, and occasionally MCs at the Livery’s Open Stage - you can catch her singing there and in her church choir. Beth is animal friendly, fun, and loves all people!
Chris Rice is a out and proud marketing professional bringing lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender advocacy to corporate America. Having grown up in rural Tennessee, and coming out at the age of 15, Chris decided he would never go back into the closet to climb the corporate ladder. He gives back to the community by organizing an annual fundraiser at the World of Whirlpool in Chicago's River North neighborhood supporting organizations like Project Fierce Chicago, the Out Center, Mr. Friendly, and CARES. Chris has served as the co-lead of the Whirlpool Pride Network, LGBTQ resource group for Whirlpool Corporation since 2013, on several local boards, was Mr. Campit Leather 2015, and honored as one of Windy City Times 2015 30 Under 30 for his advocacy efforts in the workplace.
