Sparks: The Magic of the Grid

BY ALEX HALBLEIB
@ VOL 5 ON MAY 19, 2016

"The whole idea of being connected in some way, shape, or form, through this system that people set up, is so we can actually help each other do better things."

In Sparks: The Magic of the Grid from PechaKucha Night St. Joseph Vol. 5, electrical engineer at Whirlpool Corporation, Alex Halbleib distills an explanation of the mechanics (and magic) and the ubiquitous grid that brings our homes energy every day and night. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, (that's pronounced "Loo-ih-vil", without the "S"!) Alex is currently working in the advanced engineering where he hopes to make the world's connection just a little bit stronger.

This was "PechaKucha of the Day" on Wednesday, June 15th, 2016.

Telling a Story without the Ending

BY ALEX HALBLEIB
@ VOL 15 ON DEC 06, 2018

Alex Halbleib is an Electrical Engineer, with strong interests in the power grid, the power of appliances, and telling stories with numbers in all kinds of ways.

"I love a well-told story. Stories come in a number of new formats these days, from movies, to songs, to video games! Little did I realize that I'd find my favorite type of story by sitting around a table with my friends, telling a story that I didn't know the ending to." -ah
