Art & Sons is the collaborative studio of Drew Garza and Scott Pauli. Our clients include national/international companies, all the way down to local start-ups. We have designed restaurants, directed nationally recognized videos and developed some of Madison’s favorite brands. Some of our clients include The Morgridge Institute, Underground Food Collective, Planet Bike and Madison SourDough Company. Our talk will focus on our approach to basically sharing one brain for the last 5 years. We will talk about the challenges and opportunities this creates.

Mehdi Doumi is from Algeria and England, studied biomedical engineering, and is a technical leader in Research and Innovation at L’Oreal USA - researching human perception of cosmetic products.  He has been part of NPO Ligo Project, promoting science in U.S. culture through humor and videography.  He also enjoys carpentry, improv, and drawing satirical cartoons.  Over the last 4 years he has committed himself to creating abstract artwork to any K-12 educator across the USA.  He hopes that each art piece stimulates student curiosity about math and science topics, especially in a challenging teaching environment.

Painting the Town: Reflections on Christchurch's Relationship with Urban Art...

Dr. Reuben Woods is an art historian and writer. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on street art and graffiti in post-earthquake Christchurch. Reuben believes that graffiti and street art have played a central role in the city's recovery and renewal. As a post-graduate in the Art History and Theory Department, he seeks to engage a wider audience with the city's intriguing and evolving relationship with urban art by exploring the various narratives and personalities that form these diverse cultures. Reuben also contributes to the website Watch This Space and hosts guided tours of the city's urban art.

In this talk, Reuben reflects on Christchurch’s relationship with street art that has emerged following devastating earthquakes. He tells us how street art can have a significant impact on the built environment and how Christchurch is a space for artists to respond and react.

In his talk, he tells us about his journey from gymnastics to parkour, from the gym to the outdoors and the city.
