Exhibition "Design Ah!" Channel

PechaKucha teamed up with 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT as part of the "Design Ah!" exhibition to produce two special events on March 23rd. One for kids, where they made and presented their 20x20s in an open workshop. The other for 'grown-ups' was part of Roppongi Art Night, and featured an inspiring lineup of design talent.

EU-Japan Fest Channel

EU-Japan Fest supports artists and communists in culture and the arts, arranging exchanges between Europe and Japan in this fields. Most of these activities revolve around the European Capital of Culture initiative. Funding is provided through members of the business community and EU member country ambassadors to Japan.

Satirical Street Art

RUA can be viewed as a satirical street art collective. They aim to call attention to urgent matters like infrastructure needs. Their political stand was visible in São Paulo during the protests of June 2013, as their poster "Uma Cidade Muda Não Muda" (roughly translated as "A Mute City Doesn't Change") became the front-piece of the movement.

A Political Cartoonist Returns to His Roots, A Group of Painters, and Amsterdam's Modern Canopy

Presentations Clay Bennett is a political cartoonist who left Alabama for Massachusetts, only to find himself returning to his Southern roots by way of a move to Tennessee, and more specifically, Chattanooga. He tells his story in his presentation (from PKN Chattanooga Vol. 10), highlighting each part with with a selection of his cartoons. Eva Štybrava is the founder of a group of painters called the Saint Thomas Five. Her presentation (in Czech, from PKN Plzen Vol. 1) offers up a selection of their works, as well as revealing their process. When Art and Science Collide

“I wanted to learn the beautiful mechanism of the universe, nature, and life. So i studied biology and chemistry in my university. And that’s when i thought ‘how cool would it be to integrate all of this into art?’” In When Art and Science Collide from PechaKucha Night Tokyo Vol. 132,  contemporary artist and science researcher Yoko Shimizu details her work. One may think that art and Science are total opposites but not Yoko. She finds that the beauty of the scientific principles that surround us to be timeless, limitless, and inspirational.
