Brewing Koltur

@ VOL 40 ON JUN 13, 2013

Daniel Norlindh & Peter Lincoln of Brewing Koltur give us some insight into the growing craft-brewing scene here in Sweden and beyond. These two charismatic characters ooze both knowledge and passion for the brewing of short run beers and ales. Sweden's craft brewing scene is a vibrant new addition to a land dominated by a state-run alcohol system that sees Swedes governed by a restrictive 'home drinking' situation. Brewing Koltur will leave you with an appetite to go out and try different ales and treat them with a higher level of respect.

Kovacs Gerzson Peter

PechaKucha Night in Budapest Vol. 14 was held back in September, and that city's organizer, Attila Bujdoso, fills us in on a special performance that was done in between the presentations by dancer, choreographer, and stage designer Kovacs Gerzson Peter. So PechaKucha Night in Budapest Vol.14 event was held in Trafó theatre. We took the advantages of the space since all the equipment was already installed and available for use. Kovács Gerzson Péter, contemporary dancer, coreographer and stage designer showed not 20 slides but 20 stage scenes instead, supported by the life set of DJ Csodafarkas (Tilos). The audience, who was seated on the stage opposing the presenters who were standing on the amphitheatre steps, was the target of the lighting so the visitors became the actors of the scenes themselves. Below, a few more photos from the performance -- there's more to see in this Flickr photoset.

PechaKucha in the Chicago Tribune

A nice piece on PechaKucha was published in yesterday's Chicago Tribune, and can be read online here -- big thanks to PKN Chicago organizer Peter Exley for the heads-up. We sure love this way of describing the events: "a poetry slam of ideas."

Moment Factory

We kick off the week with a "Presentation of the Day" that was recorded in Frankfurt about a studio in Montreal. 75 multimedia artists work at Moment Factory. Although the studio is based in Montreal, Canada, the team is composed of people from around the world and from various backgrounds, including dance, architecture, lighting design, programming, engineering, graphic design, illustration, music, production and more. What Gabriel Pontbriand loves so much about his job is that each project is a surprising adventure. Having and international and multidisciplinary group of people working together allows them to imagine interactions between technology and emotion that are unique each time.
