Alan speaks of his life, his art, his shop (Revival Cycles) and his budding interest in industrial architecture.

"When I was younger, I never thought that I would be a motorcycle builder."

In Disowned Customs - Motorcycle Fabricator from PechaKucha Night Cleveland Vol. 27Dani Pajak shares on his life as a custom motorcycle builder. Pajak is a builder in Cleveland who got his start in his own garage. He learned how to weld from a local company – Lincoln Electric – in a work-study type program when he was trying to turn his life around after the birth of his daughter.

Looking Through the Pallets

From yoga DJs, to motorcycle shows, to orchestral ensembles, to seasonal feasts, who knew a space created of pallets could host such diverse events? The Pallet Pavilion was a temporary community venue made of repurposed materials such as packing pallets. The week before it was dismantled and recycled the two event managers of the venue, in "Looking Through the Pallets" at PKN Christchurch Vol. 17 Rafaela Bolanos and Rosaria Ferguson spoke to the audience as they sat in the venue about the diverse events that occupied the Pallet over two summers.

Analog Creation in a Digital World

“What you use influences what you create. I say, take that into consideration, try putting down the macbook, pull out a notebook, and get your Hemingway on.” In Analog Creation in a Digital World from Pechakucha Night Salt Lake City Vol. 16, Tyson Call, who is a writer, photographer, and motorcycle rider, talks about his story. For Tyson, however, sitting down to write on a computer creates too many distractions. Receiving a typewriter as a gift opened up a whole new perspective on the creative process and created a connection to the inner workings of other great writers like Hemmingway, Steinbeck, and Hunter S. Thompson. In this presentation, Tyson, muses on analog creation in a digital world and asks, "What have you done with a piece of paper? Nothing!"

"Sidecars make you happy!" In "3 Wheels, 2 Pals, 1 Tail" from PechaKucha Night Batavia Vol.3, After purchasing a Ural motorcycle, Melissa Monno and her dog, Dante, put the bike and themselves to the test, hitting the road into the Western United States. The two found a world of adventure and serendipitous encounters along the way, which fueled an “anything is possible” mindset. Upon returning home, the two strive to continue spreading happiness and Melissa aims to build meaningful connections within her new community as a small business owner.
