During a lecture Sergio Garzon gave at the Pacific Health Conference in 2012,
he came across the idea that art therapy is a gentle, free and an evident cure for many mental illnesses, specially those dealing with social-dynamics. His “Los Local” presentation focuses on using art as a form of free health therapy on the streets.

Katie Boyer is the head of Teen Services at the Benton Harbor Public Library. She is also the creator of an online photo odyssey, dubbed The Adventures of Jace, featuring Jace, an action figure have from the game 'Magic the Gathering'.

Kirsty Keatch is a sound artist and creative programmer exploring the design of playful interactive sound in game systems, including AR and VR. Her work seamlessly integrates the dark arts of mobile technology with lighter creative contexts to widen people’s access to experiences with sound in installations in gallery spaces and mobile games.
Having completed a Masters in Sound Design by research at Edinburgh University, she worked with assistive music technology company, Skoogmusic. She had her kinetic sound installation, Katakata, curated at the Edinburgh International Science Festival in the National Museum of Scotland. Her recent AR game, Fit In, has been interpreted as a VR Party Game and been played at Arcadia in Dundee and V&A Friday Late in London.
Luci Holland - Instrumental Animation

Luci Holland is a composer and arts producer who explores interdisciplinary creativity in film, games and performance.
Luci graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MSc in Composition for Screen in 2013, now working regularly with music & arts organisations such as the Tinderbox Project and Absolute Classics, and occassionally coordinating events as the Edinburgh Game Symposium and with her music-for-media band Mantra Collective.
Currently she is working on several other collaborative composition, recording, and music projects for film, games, and original music albums. Luci also just completed a custom-built interactive sonic art installation for the 2017 Hidden Door festival (CITADEL), as well as a bespoke music & sound piece for the outdoors audiovisual experience at Dean Castle, Illuminight.

Yann Seznec is an artist and musician whose work focuses on sound, music, physical interaction, games, and building new instruments.
Recent projects include residencies at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, the Floating Cinema in London, Playable City Lagos, and Timespan in the Scottish Highlands. He has performed at The Roundhouse London, Mutek Montreal, Melbourne Recital Hall, Liquid Rooms Tokyo, Köln Philharmonie, Fak’ugesi Johannesburg, and more.
Much of his work involves building custom instruments such as musical pigsties, slinky instruments, candle-based sound installations, electromechanical mushroom spore reactors, and more. He is founder of BAFTA-winning creative studio Lucky Frame and is a lecturer at Abertay University. In December 2015 he received the British Composer Award for Sonic Art for his 2014 Edinburgh Art Festival work “Currents”.

The Story of a Sandbox
Mike Laurence is a coder, tinkerer, and co-founder of the game development studio Bytebin. In this edition of Presentation of the Day (from TableXI's January Table Talks), Mike speaks of the trials and triumphs found whilst building open-world gaming environments (or sandbox environments as they're called within the gaming community) and cultivating an online fellowship surrounding this massively multiplayer game at the same time.

From the minute the lights came up at the end of the inaugural BitSummit—a humble but ultimately successful effort—we immediately took the enthusiasm and feedback and support gathered from the first event and set our sights on creating an even better follow-up for 2014. Many of the indie teams who joined us for BitSummit MMXIII have already experienced exciting new levels of collaboration and success over the past year. Simply speaking, BitSummit is having an effect, and we want to build on that momentum. For BitSummit MMXIV (March 7-9) we’ve expanded the size, the length, and the quality, with three days worth of guest speakers and musical guests, combined together in an event unlike anything ever seen.
We Want Your Presentation
BitSummit MMXIV is now behind us, and what a fantastic celebration of indie gaming that was! We were able to record 10 presentations from participating indie game developers on the show floor during the event -- check out our event page to see who took part -- and we'll be publishing these presentations in this Channel towards the end of the week. While at the festival, we met quite a few participants who were interested in taking part in our recordings, but weren't able to prepare a presentation on the spot, and so we're opening up the Channel. The Indie Game Revolution
"Supporting independent games is the same thing as supporting art ... it's an artistic revolution happening right under your nose." Max Temkin talks about the revolutionary change in the computer gaming industry from publisher and distributor producted games to independent games that could be sold directly to the customer. In "The Indie Game Revolution" from PKN Chicago Vol. 29, Temkin gives an overview of independenly created games, like Minecraft, Fez, and Spleunky, in order to show what great games (and great art forms) could be created outside publisher and distributor influences.

Gamification of our Everday
Can gamifying our everyday tasks make us more productive? Matthew Rosenberg, an architect at Los Angeles-based firm M-Rad predicts our future will become somewhat of a peewee’s playhouse. In “Gamification of our Everyday” from PKN Toronto Vol. 31 we see that He believes gamifying our everyday life can induce people to live a more meaningful life. Matthew takes us through a few examples of digital and physical projects that use gaming to solve global issues.
