Since 2014, Tamara Barrage has been exploring the tactile and sensorial characteristics of materials. Using an array of experimental techniques, Tamara investigates how materials behave, and how forms and textures provoke our senses. In her talk, she speaks about her obsession with textures and materials and how she nourishes and explores this obsession in her work to create unique designs.

Zosia Chen-Wernik shares that her own path of learning started from “experimental education”. Her parents let her conduct self-study at home as a child. She learned about other cultures and languages, as well as such skills as calligraphy. But, self-study was not only confined to studying at home. Instead, the process of learning also came from travelling and daily life, as well as from ice skating, making documentary films, and engaging in modelling work. Then, at the age of 17, she founded a skiing school, which opened up unlimited possibilities for her life.

IT for Education
Alexey Dubinsky, a teacher from Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy, presented in his presentation from PKN Dnipropetrovsk IT::Education his view on the development of education and shared experience in this field. Educational portal DMA was established and is functioning, online counseling and feedback from teachers in Skype and Facebook is being developed for medical students. There is an active digitization of content, useful for gaining knowledge in the medical field, and such systems as Moodle and Digital Health are being mastered. Most valuable assets are people and great attention should be paid to automation in healthcare industry that never stands still. Alexey Dubinsky urged not to throw away old and unwanted computers and transfer them to the needs of the Medical Academy for professional development of future doctors.
Education = Fun
We need to redefine the role of the teacher. We don’t need information transferrers or deficit detectives, we need treasure hunters who direct children along their paths. Visual journalist Janna Ulrich speaks on the importance of connecting and relating disparate subject within education. In “Education = Fun” from PKN Breda Vol. 7, she suggests that education currently lacks core elements of fun, analysis, and empathy.

Both of them constantly get fired up on this - Marco because he couldn't wait to get away from it, and for Celestine because she's right in the middle of it. Both of them have come to realise that education doesn't need to be painful, it can be inspirational but it must be engaging. They discuss realising that education can be something that you share as a family, from the highs to the lows. They believe it's something we all need to be involved in, and share their thoughts on how to do it.
