PKN Aalen Vol. 5
The other day we mentioned how the next PechaKucha Night in Aalen was going to be a special edition featuring a few candidates for upcoming elections, and organizer Thomas Maile tells us it ended up being a wonderful evening. We had 250 people who visited our event, and on top of that 400 visitors joined through our live stream. The 20x20 format is not normal for politicians, but the candidates for our house of parliament did a good job. As you can see in the photo, political speeches can be really funny. Also, here's a report on the event from the Schwabische Post, and you'll find video of the presentations here. And again, please note that the next PKN in Aalen (Vol. 6) is set for March 25 -- more details here.

Presentations Leon Conradie is an experienced architectural academic, who is doing his Masters Research on "The Work of Crofton & Benjamin Architects: 1955 -1964." Crofton & Benjamin Architects were prolific in the 50s and 60s on beachfront developments, and have designed many iconic Durban buildings, each with an Art Deco style. Posters Today's addition to the Tumblr blog is the poster for the upcoming PKN Ekaterinburg Vol. 6 (pictured above), which will be part of the The Second Ural Industrial Biennale of Contemporary Art, an important event on the city's cultural agenda. It will also be the first time a PKN in Ekaterinburg is themed, with all presentations tied to art -- below, more details on the event:This time PechaKucha Night Ekaterinburg invites everyone to think about contemporary art during the parallel program of The Second Ural Industrial Biennale of Contemporary art. We wonder if there is some place for modern art in modern person`s life? You can tell there about your personal experience, projects, interests or ideas in the field of modern art. We try to find the answer if it is necessary to be an artist to make art? Do you make art? Does your art have a target? What do you what from contemporary art as a consumer? How are your projects connected with art? Photos Take a look at last week's PKN Singapore Vol. 5 courtesy of this photo gallery [Facebook]. As organizer Jon Siegel tells us, it was a fantastic event with a great turnout (close to 300) and a terrific lineup of presenters. Above, a look at part of the crowd, and presenter Jon "Yongfook" Cockle. Calendar We kick off the week with tonight's (September 10) PKN Muscat Vol. 2, and tomorrow you can catch Toronto's Vol. 17.
PechaKucha Pride Night Aalborg
We had a small beautyfull PechaKucha Night Aalborg #19 on june 19. 2015 in the little art cinema Biffen with room for 50.We named it PechaKucha Pride Night, because Aalborg had its first Pride parade the day after. Award winning filmdirector Karsten Geisnæs also showed his shortmovie NOMANSLAND at the event. We had 4 presenters including Karsten presenting his movie and answering questions afterwards. Photographer and singer Josefine Stebye talked about her photoworks with women with hair under their arms about the acceptance of being just you and nobody elseI Fie Zehngraff poet and writer - read poems about the current political situation after elections and about life in general – Kathrine Skovsgaard and Trine introduced their dream about making Aalborg Pride for equality happen, which were attended the day after through the city by lots of peolpe - with concerts and events in the park Karolinelunden. The extremely talented filmdirector Karsten Geisnæs told about creating his shortmovie about love, HIV, sexuality, loss and hope in his movie Nomansland, and his struggle to raise funds for a movie about a controversial subject as homosexual love and devotion. Everyone in the movie acted and worked without being paid...AND he talked about the victory and joy of winning prices at filmfestivals worldwide afterwards... eventhough you can’t eat them – like he said. After watching the movie Karsten Geisnæs answered questions. We all went home as richer in our souls and wiser in our hearts and this is what my ambition being a PechaKucha cityorganizer has been all about.
