Hiring is Broken Like Dating

In this Pechakucha given by Michelle Levesley at London - Vol. 20 - PKNLDN 20 - WeWork, Michelle put forwards a very convincing argument for why the process of hiring staff is broken just like dating is. Her argument puts forward a case for why hiring is broken for both employees and employers.

Using tales from her personal life Michelle got the lucky listeners in the Vol. 20 audience rethinking their approach to work-life and most importantly to how their attributes are portrayed in a modern world.

City Focus: St. John's

Take a trip with us to the capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John’s, for our City Focus. St. John’s is located on the eastern tip of the Avalon Peninsula and is rich with both history and captivating beauty. It is one of the oldest european settlements in North America, dating back to 1519. As for the cityscape, the homes and buildings in St. John’s are radiant with color and have tremendous character. City Focus: Christchurch

This week, we find ourselves heading to the southern hemisphere for our City Focus, landing in the beautiful destination of Christchurch, New Zealand. Dating back more than 150 years, Christchurch was the first official city in New Zealand and is the largest on the southern island, home to approximately 400,000 residents. Known as the "City of Gardens", it is host to over 700 parks and gardens, including the wonderfully grand Hagley Park, one of the larger city parks in the world. Close by, the famous Christchurch Botanic Gardens can provide a shady, peaceful environment filled with stunning plant life. For a little more excitement, the city and the surrounding suburbs also feature exciting attractions like Sumner Beach and the Adrenalin Forest.  It is safe to say that there is plenty to do if you live in the city or are just visiting, but if you want more, swing by Christchurch's Vol. 40 event on August 1st! Through the face of many adversaries, Christchurch continues to stand tall and rebuild that which has been knocked down, persevering and acting as an inspiration to all of us around the globe.
