They then hired Terry Buntrock to create and orchestrate Arts Month. Terry has managed to fill the month with dozens of art related events, and this presentation gives us just a sampling of some of those events.

32 Months

BY FINAH YUSOF
@ VOL 6 ON DEC 19, 2015

“Hitchhiking is defined as travel by getting free lifts in passing vehicles. most people… would describe it as one way of getting yourself killed. I define it as the eye opening experience of seeing kindness in strangers.”

In 32 Months from PechaKucha Bandar Seri Begawan’s 6th Volume speaker Finah Yusof, founder of Gypsy Borneo, shares an amazing journey. A two month holiday to drink coffee and meet new friends ended up instead as an explosion of adventures and incredible encounters of human kindness in the span of thirty-two. Full of curiosity and the need to seek, her decision to continue traveling (or, really, hitchhiking) brought her experiences she never thought she would ever see and feel. She learned many things from how people are to how to survive to how to be what we all are… human.

Finah urged people to have trust and to drop their fears. To say "Yes" instead of hesitating. To be alive.

This was "PechaKucha of the Day" on Monday, February 29th, 2016.

How to spark a movement in 2 months with no money

BY DIANA BADEIAN
@ VOL 26 ON SEP 28, 2018

10 years ago in 2008 Rainer Nõlvak, an ordinary entrepreneur from Estonia, gathered four friends and suggested that they try to cleanup the whole country from illegal waste. The idea seemed insane, but 50,000 people came to the streets. The action grew into a large volunteer movement, which initially operated only in Estonia, but this year it is aimed to cleanup the entire Earth.

This year on September 15, Armenia also joined the movement, and the presentation tells you just about that!

PechaKucha Day in Providence

How's this for an honor: This week's PechaKucha Night in Providence Vol. 24 -- their second anniversary, considering PKNs are held monthly there -- not only attracted an amazing crowd of over 300, but it also marked the official designation of March 30 as "PechaKucha Day" in the city of Providence. Don't believe us? That's the official proclamation you see in this post, signed by mayor Angel Taveras. Congratulations to PKN Providence organizer Michael Gazdacko and his team for their hard work, and a tip of the hat also to Stephanie Gerson, who launched the series and helped built it during her time as organizer.
