Brewing Koltur

BY DANIEL NORLINDH AND PETER LINCOLN
@ VOL 40 ON JUN 13, 2013

Daniel Norlindh & Peter Lincoln of Brewing Koltur give us some insight into the growing craft-brewing scene here in Sweden and beyond. These two charismatic characters ooze both knowledge and passion for the brewing of short run beers and ales. Sweden's craft brewing scene is a vibrant new addition to a land dominated by a state-run alcohol system that sees Swedes governed by a restrictive 'home drinking' situation. Brewing Koltur will leave you with an appetite to go out and try different ales and treat them with a higher level of respect.

Perishing Reefs

BY DANIEL CHURCHMAN
@ VOL 2 ON AUG 09, 2013

Daniel Churchman gives a talk on coral reefs. They are an extremely important part of our ecosystem. Cyanobacteria, which creates some reefs, create 70% of the oxygen we breathe. Coral reefs are not studied or talked about enough; the first symposium on cold water reefs was not done until 2000. Due to global warming, we may be the generation that talks about their extinction.

Daniel Vlček

BY DANIEL VLČEK
@ VOL 4 ON DEC 15, 2017

Překládá zvuk do obrazu a obraz do zvuku. Často mluví o vlnách, frekvencích a interferencích.

Venom Palette Illustrates for PKN Gothenburg

Kudos to PechaKucha Night Gothenburg for inspiring one of its past presenters, illustrator Daniel Johansson (aka Venom Palette), into producing the PKN GBG image seen above. Daniel has this to say on the piece: The image is a paraphrase on the last image of my own PechaKucha presentation which portrayed a tiger woman -- the only illustration my dad likes. This illustration is of a zebra woman (actually Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs who also modeled for the tiger woman illustration). The zebra pattern symbolize the beautiful multiplicity and uniqueness of PechaKucha and all the different presenters. The microphone represent the verbal part of presenting, and the camera (head) for the visual part. And everybody wears Converse shoes in Gothenburg!

The Story of Chiles

In this edition of Presentation of the Day (from PKN Santa Barbara Vol. 6), Daniel Montello expresses his love for the chile pepper. History lessons are given, examinations of the hottest chiles in the world are reported; among them not only the notorious habanero pepper, but many rated on the Scoville heat scale as much more volatile. Daniel offers suggestions to those who can't take the heat (hint: add sugar or milk), and talks of the compounds that cause the lovely (or awful) burning sensation when consumed.

Poster for PKN Knoxville Vol. 11

Daniel Jones is a talented designer employed at Sanders Pace Architecture and he just to happens to be a one of Knoxville's PKN event Organizers.   USGBC is partnering with PKN to offer new presenters and encourage a new crowd to attend the event.   This was kept in mind as an important piece of info for  the poster to communicate.   From the artisit - "The inspiration for this design was observing my son Jack and how freely and unbiased he observes and interacts with the world around him - and how watching a pechakucha presentation (at least a good one anyway) allows the viewer a moment be free to enjoy something completely new and unexpected." -Daniel Jones
