IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild is an outdoor concert series in stunning landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. Hunter Noack brings a 9-foot Steinway grand piano to the middle of forests, fields, calderas and historical sites for classical music concerts. To meet the acoustical challenges of performing in the wild, music is transmitted to the concert-goers via wireless headphones. No longer confined to seats, they can explore the landscape, wander through secret glens, lie in sunny meadows, and roam old growth forests.

Landscape

BY BARBARA THOMAS
@ VOL 23 ON MAR 16, 2018

Barbara Thomas has been painting all her life. She first came to the East End of Long Island as a child in the 1960s, and has been painting here full time since the early 1980s. Barbara's work has always centered on land and nature, and changing seasons. Over her many years painting here, she has built a wide following as a plein air landscape painter, a garden, landscape, and house portraitist. More recently her work has expanded into installation, including video pieces, for which she composes and performs the music, which also center on nature themes. Barbara has been teaching painting here at the Parrish for nine years, as well as in New York City.
