Photographer, musician, and poetic lyricist Samm Bennett blends elements from all his specialties to form an amazing and hilarious performance pairing Samm's humorous photographic juxtapositions and cunning linguistic chops.

This presentation was recorded at PechaKucha Night Vol. 109, and then performed again at Tokyo Designers Week 2014's PechaKucha Night Vol. 118. It was selected as "Presentation of the Day" on December 31, 2013.

In Show Me Your Vision from PechaKucha Night Nanaimo Vol. 4, Designer and Art Director at Balbina Studio, Rob Plante ignites our imaginations with something as simple as a sketch. Trained in typography, graphic design, photography, and illustration at the Royal Academy for Visual Arts in The Hague, the Netherlands, sketching is the cornerstone of his work, having informed everything in his design process throughout a prolific career. Here Having branded thousand companies and organizations as an art director, creative director, graphic designer, filmmaker, copywriter, illustrator, and coach, Robert speaks a language of design that all can understand, especially here in this simple, compelling, and charming presentation about what his city can become through sketches.

The Art and Practice of Designing Works of Dance

Lari Lawrence-Gist is the Director of Dance at the Citadel Dance & Music Center. She moved to the area from New York City in 2004. Lari is a choreographer whose work includes concert pieces, full length musicals, as well as full length ballets. She has worked with many different companies, schools, and organizations, but the majority of her work is now staged with the Citadel Dance Company. In 2015, Lari created “A Steamed Nutcracker” for the Benton Harbor community, and it is staged annually at the Mendel Center.
