The Fine Art of Selling Out

Chaz Hampton has been compulsively making art since early childhood. Barely graduating high school, Chaz has gone on to a 20+ year career and both a fine artist and a professional designer for brands such as Blue Fish Clothing, HGTV, and Applegate Farms. Chaz is a multi-disciplined creative and co-owner of Brick + Mortar, an art gallery and design studio in Easton, PA he co-founded in May 2015 with business partner, Tom D’Angelo. Here, Chaz shares his thoughts on balancing his practice as a fine artist with his family and his career.

Vince Ornato has made a full-time living drawing and painting for over 30 years.  He started as a sketch-portrait artist, graphic designer and sign painter, before selling his own personal work.  He has a Bachelor’s Degree from Pitt in English Writing, and Rhetoric, and is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh’s Evening School.  His art studies continued with persistent practice and by taking workshops with prominent artists, most notably Daniel Greene from New York, for whom he worked as a classroom assistant.

Dustin George is an art director at MGM Communications. He has Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Indigenous Art from the First Nations University of Canada, and the University of Regina. He took his design education at Red River College in Winnipeg where he graduated with diplomas in graphic design and advanced graphic design. Having completed schooling in both the Fine Art and Graphic Design disciplines, Dustin explains the differences between the two, and where his journey has taken him.

Growing up with a physicist father and cowgirl mother, Jennifer Redstreake Geary has had quite the journey coming into her art and finding her place in the world. Her father, the Space Cadet, (having grown up watching anything Sci-Fi) always believed in her and encouraged her to pursue a living doing what she loved to do. Paint. Her mother, a constant stream of inspiration for that art, providing fur kids and gentle beasts to create in every medium she could get her hands on. Today, because of that parent’s love, she is a success. She loves her life. And she paints every day. Her work inspires humor and heart as she licenses her works all around the world. Katy Puterka was raised in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Puterka works primarily in jewelry making and secondarily in watercolor. She completed her Bachelors of Fine Arts at Oklahoma State University in May of 2015. Puterka’s artwork has been featured in Oklahoma’s Tallgrass Art Gallery, Kasum Gallery, Oklahoma Contemporary, Niche Awards Gallery, Graphite Elements & Design Art Gallery, Gardiner Art Gallery, Hardesty Center for Fablab, and locally exhibited in Stillwater.
