Natureweavers is an award winning forest school program for children and families that combines environmental education, nature connection and regional sustainability. Based in Black Mountain, Carly Garner and her team have been working with children in wildspace since 2010. Their programs include a weekly bush kinder, a monthly WildPlayGroup, Saturday sessions, seasonal celebrations, overnight camps and holiday programs. Carly is also a member of the International Association of Nature Pedagogy and advisor to the Forest School Alliance.  In her presentation, Carly talks about her innovative approach to environmental education with kids taking risks and getting down and dirty!

As a 15-year industry veteran, Peter Olson will share an insider’s perspective on a day in the life of a Play Worker.

Ebenezer Amofa shares about building better primary schools in the Lompe Primary School District in Northern Ghana. 

Rex Ferguson-Baird has an idea on how to fix some of the issues that kids face in life and learning. As the Principal of Brooklands School, Rex believes that the solution is as simple as taking it outside. For this PechaKucha Night Winnipeg talk, Rex talks about the concept and application of the "outdoor school" and the benefits that kids have gained while learning from beyond the four walls of the classroom.

For those who grow up in the outdoors, it comes easy. It is much easier to be a competent skiier, or climber, or adventurer if you come at it from an early age. Yet contrary to popular belief, David Steele shows that old dogs CAN learn new tricks. The great benefit to a person trying something new is people who have been on that path before themselves. David shows that life can be challangeing and exciting for all of us at all stages of the journey, no matter if you are a cohort, a mentor, or an up-and-comer.
