The Many Shapes of Earth

BY ALEXANDRE COATES
@ VOL 17 ON MAR 13, 2017

Alexandre Coates talks about how we think about the Earth, mainly about what shape it is, from a flat earth (and flat-earth societies) to a sphere. The surface of a sphere simply cannot be rolled out on a 2D surface, so maps must always choose something to keep, and something to get rid of. So what does map-earth look like?

In this PechaKucha given by Iona Inglesby, as part of Clerkenwell Design Week 2017, Iona tells us the tale about how she established her company called Dot One which analyses part of this 0.1% to create prints and textiles personalised to you on a molecular level.
