Frida Ersson is a recently-graduated student from Malmsten's college - one of the finest schools of cabinetmaking in the world. Her projects have entailed a fair degree of traveling, which serves as a way of lifitng inspiration for her work. Each trip taken would result in a plethora of found objects that would later see themselves incorporated into her final project; a glorious investment of time to create a stunning piece of craftsmanship - her desk. The Art of Active Working Metaphors

To FVCC theatre professor Rich Haptonstall, set design is an "active working metaphor": not only does it have to be comparable and representative of real life, but it has to be a living, moving artform. As the three stories in this presentation demostrate, knowing how to use visual cues such as shape, color, and texture allow Haptonstall to illusrate the essence of the play and the characters therin.

Laurie Lisonbee shows artworks of the human figure in yoga postures as metaphors for states of being. Depictions of bodily contortions and mudras of the hand are crafted into relic-like objects.  From art historical sources, junk piles, and yoga practice, Lisonbee derives a painting process akin to devotional meditation.
