City by Night, Art by Light

BY CINDI DRENNAN
@ PECHAKUCHA URBAN INNOVATION MONTH ON APR 01, 2014

Cindi Drennan's projects covered in the following presentation look to do two things: bring life to the city -- to retailers, etc. -- at night, and broaden the audience of art installations (in this case, projected lighting installations). She accomplishes both, as you'll see through the "New Light Industrial" and "Night Mural" installations, not only bringing an audience to parts of the city they wouldn't normally visit -- especially to take in art -- but also giving artists a new audience, with their works out of the gallery and onto the street.

Copper Harbor, Michigan

BY JOHN DONOVAN
@ VOL 21 ON JUN 18, 2015

"I don't know if there is a word to describe a peninsula that's part of another peninsula, maybe "super-peninsula." They can use that if they want."

In this hilarious, yet introspective look on a remote and serene corner on the world called Copper Harbour, Michigan, freelance writer John Donavan shares his love for its 75 quirky residents, its single drag strip, its dozen places to stay, and half as many places to eat, its few quiet souvenir shops, its art studio, its laundromat, its lonely but loved book store, and its complete lack of cell-phone reception.

Surrounded by wilderness, wonder, and solitude, Donavan shares getting lost in the natural beauty, forgetting that the noise, and the hurry, and the craziness of world even exists, adding "it's kinda like my church."

(From PechaKucha Des Moines Vol. 21.)

This was "PechaKucha of the Day" on Thursday, October 8th, 2015.

Being in the Creative Flow

BY CINDY TAYLOR CLARK
@ VOL 27 ON APR 27, 2018

I have made art in many different forms. Sometimes not even in a physical way, but just in an observation, a prayer of gratitude. A joy welling up in my heart. Now after years of designing greeting cards, watercolors, free sketching, and channeled art for Fiber Art and quilting, I am embracing the Color of Women Method of intuitive painting. A 13 step Method of accessing your Wisdom (Muse) with magic brushes on canvas and paper.

What drew me to this method is the integrated flow of the process of intention, sacred ritual, feminine and archetype symbolism with journaling to call forth parts of my sacred self for healing and communication.  I share and teach this method to assist woman and girls on their path to more self worth and joy.
