Eric Thurmond is often asked what it means to be a dancer...to which he wonders if people understand what dance actually is. At PechaKucha Night NYC, he explains the four elements of dance, with some live demonstrations! 

Erik is a performer from Snellville, Georgia. He has danced all over the world and shown his work in Atlanta, New Orleans, Birmingham, Houston, Detroit and New York City. His work centers around ideas of obsession, control and desire.

The Transdisciplinarity of Dance

A lot of times people associate dance with entertainment, others use it as a medium of expression. Some dance for fitness and for others, it is a profession. Faizaan Ahab decided to upgrade the significance of what it meant to him and experimented with it as an "Instrument of Learning". The presentation talks about the marriage of academic principles with dance to enhance experiential learning. Faizaan talks about three academic disciplines, mathematics, psychology and design mapping, all three using dance as a learning aid, hence making it transdiciplinary in nature.
