Most Successful Fraud in History: William Shakespeare

PRESENTED ON MAR 27, 2014
IN GARRISON @ VOL 5

Everyone knows who William Shakespeare is, but are the facts about him true? Barbara Hobens does not think so and in fact denounces him as the true writer of all the infamous classic plays and writings. Rather she gives convincing evidence on how Edward de Vere is likely the Shakespeare we all thought we knew.

"Presentation of the Day" on June 11, 2014.

Lessons Shakespeare Taught Me

BY KATE HECKNER ULREY
@ VOL 9 ON MAY 19, 2017

"My love affair with William Shakespeare began early. I was born in 1961. He was born in 1564. It was a May-December relationship."

Kate Heckner Ulrey started life wanting to be Juliet, realized at one point that she had grown closer to Lady Macbeth’s age and now hopes to play Hamlet’s mother. She started teaching Shakespeare to children other than her own when her five daughters (Tess, Nora, Claire, Jane, Gwen) were young. What began as a one-time summer week of Shakespeare in 2001 shared with 6 other homeschoolers became The Backyard Shakespearean Players, a camp of 30 children aged 7 to 18, performing on a stage in a production that included dancing, stage combat, singing and dedicated adults and graduates of the program. We performed over 12 plays during that time.  In 2011, with the youngest two girls in high school, Kate went back to teaching English and directing Shakespeare at the high school level. Currently retired, Kate and her husband Joe, are fixing up a house in St. Joe.
