Kick Over the Statues

BY EWEN SPENCER
@ PECHAKUCHA 20X20 AS PART OF KICK OVER THE STATUES AT HASSELL ON MAR 02, 2017

In this PechaKucha talk given at a special one-off PechaKucha Night at HASSELL studios, Ewen Spencer shares with us the ever interesting details of how his most recent photographic project came to be -'Kick over the statues'; which explores the existence of youth tribes and subcultures in the UK.

Photographed along the route of the 2016 Notting Hill Carnival in London, and in urban locations in Liverpool, Ewen portrays a stark vision of today’s youth. He recalls the history of British subcultures, while shining a light on its very contemporary incarnations. Notably, Ewen's work provides a history of the DANCEFLOOR - what more you could want!
