Lance Lee has long been an advocate for apprenticing in traditional wooden boatbuilding and is founder of the Apprenticeshops in Maine and Russia and co-founder of Atlantic Challenge International. He believes making, doing, experiencing and apprenticing to a craft leads people towards caring lives governed by practiced rather than professed integrity. Having flunked retirement, Lance is initiating another boatbuilding program in Nobleboro, Maine.

In Weaving for the Soul from PechaKucha Night Sunshine Coast Vol.18 , René Bahloo explains her special interest as an artist in the practice and philosophy of weaving, using natural plant fibres. She shares her knowledge locally through a number of weaving circles and facilitates transformational journeys to remote Indigenous Australian and African communities, for deep connection to land, culture, healing and traditional weaving. Her sculptural installation pieces have been present at a number of conferences and have also been discovered contemplating life, the universe and everything. In her presentation Rene shares her passion for connecting culture, womens' business, personal growth and environmental awareness into the weaving of her life, and into the lives of others.

Illustrator Kriss Zammit Endrich came from an island world of high pressure academics, art conservation and perfectionism. With her whole life planned out for her by others, Kriss began to feel dissatisfied with the direction of her young life. Making her way through London, and eventually Saskatchewan, she soon  began making decisions from a place of passion once again, finding her own artistic voice and realzing sometimes the best things come when the pressure is off.
