To an outsider -from the UK- coming in Hanoi the motorbike immediately establishes itself as major player in the city’s fast-paced urban landscape and it soon becomes apparent that it is not just used as a mode of personal transport. Casting an anthropological eye on the various aspects of the motorbike in Hanoi’s life, Huren Marsh soon began to observe what can only be described as a ‘bike culture’. Huren shares some of these cultural elements and how they led him to creating an exhibition to share these observations in a light-hearted presentation of photographs, texts, props and moving images.
