PechaKucha in Milan

PechaKucha was in Milan last month (April 2012) for the Milano Salone (Milan Design Week), with a series of four PechaKucha events held at Heineken's temporary club space (designed by up-and-coming creators who were selected through a series of PechaKucha events in four cities). In this presentation, Jean gives you a taste of what the events were like, and slips in a few design week-related slides as well.

Declinazioni di un ecosistema della tregua

Un medico, un ciclo-amatore, un attivista dell'associazione "Pescara Bici" nonché il presidente della Fondazione Olos, attraverso la quale promuove il progetto Bike4Truce. Ni primi anni ’90 del secolo scorso si occupa della ideazione e della realizzazione del Centro ex Gaslini a Pescara. Un intervento che , sebbene solo parzialmente completato avrà un ruolo determinante nel trasformare lo scenario della cosiddetta "movida" pescarese. Nel 1992 prende parte alle Olimpiadi di Barcellona come consulente scientifico del marciatore Giovanni De Benedictis. Da buon appassionato di bici, nel tempo libero ama costruire biciclette, per la famiglia e per gli amici. Attraverso la Fondazione Olos promuove iniziative che mirano a trasferire alla bicicletta il ruolo di strumento di pace.

Kosovo... Living in a Post-Conflict Country

After maintaining a practice in restorative architecture in St. Charles, Illinois, for 32 years, Michael Dixon decided to share his experience in the United States Peace Corps. His Peace Corps service included three years in Ukraine before being evacuated under the extreme conditions of a revolution and a Russian invasion. Following his abrupt departure from Ukraine, Mike accepted a six-month assignment as a community development specialist in Armenia. In this presentation, He describes his most recent assignment in the Republic of Kosovo, working with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare from his office in the Department of Tourism and Economic Development in the historic city of Prizren.
