Despite the seemingly obstructive title, Emily Peasgood shows she is a risk-taking creative who throws caution to the wind (sometimes literally), experimenting with sound and social encounters, her work is original, thought-provoking and uplifting.

Some Interventions (2000 to 2014) Art in Public

Uwe Jonas (born in 1962 in Hamburg, studied political science) has worked as a visual artist and curator in Berlin since 1993. He takes a conceptional, context-oriented approach with a focus on societal transformation phenomena, generally in public space.

The use of public space and the way this space is perceived are shaped by cultural factors in a variety of manners and thus vary to a great extent; art in public space is therefore also dependent on the local conditions. This is the attraction and the great potential of exchange activity. He aims to promote this art form and to demonstrate its potential, which not only promises observers that art will become part of life and not just an ethereal pleasure, but also offers artists an opportunity to get involved with the “general public”.

Reset Reality

Maximilian Erbacher’s oevre, including installations and interventions in public space, is concerned in one way or another with artistic examinations of subtle shifts, which force us to re-assess the supposedly known. Led by his discerning gaze, we come to places where communication between people and their environment seems no longer possible. Erbacher slightly refocuses the way we usually look at the world and makes us rethink what we consider our true experiences and our knowledge of places and stories.(K. Stremmel, Cologne 2007). 

His works have been previously shown in Mirko Mayer Gallery (Germany 2011), Jonkang Lu Art Shanghai (China 2010), Städtische Skulpturenmuseum Heilbronn (Germany 2009), Zentrum Beeldende Kunst Rotterdam (Netherlands 2003), Taipei Fine Art Museum (Taiwan 2002) amongst others. With a DAAD stipend he has also taught media arts and performance at the University of Pécs (Hungary 2011).

Erbacher studied graphic arts at University of Applied Sciences Augsburg, Germany, Media arts at University of Ulster Belfast, North Ireland followed by the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Germany, with Valie Export and Jürgen Klauke. 
 
Currently he curates the off-space Boutique- Raum für temporäre Kunst he founded in 2011 in Cologne where he lives and works.

Martin Lutz makes things with sounds and sound out of things. makes this to music. sometimes. declares the ambience to music. makes music to a part of the ambience. this is the music. and this music is the sound.

Martin Lutz studied musicology at LMU Munich and SoundStudies at UdK Berlin. He works as a composer, musician and sound artist for dance, performances, theatre, installations and film. The focus of his work is the examination with sound and its relevance for and texture in the space. Field recordings and experimental sound production are the basis for compositions, that take sounds and soundscapes out of their natural context to give them a new content-related and spatial sense.

Martin Lutz has been invited to work out and realise the sound concept and a music score for the new dance production "Bhinna Vinyasa – Multiple Assemblages" commissioned by the Kochi-Muziris Biennale from the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, for the 2014 edition.

Two years ago he worked with Attakkalari on the performance "AadhaaraChakra - A Dancelogue“, which performed in India and Europe. The idea was to research contemporary Indian urban sound environments, to make field recordings of them and to create with this audio-material (in collaboration with the Austrian sound artist Sam Auinger) sound compositions that could be termed as somewhere between music and soundscapes. For this project they also worked together with Indian musicians to mix parts of the soundscapes with elements of Indian classical and folk music.

The requirements for the new performance will be similar. Basis for the artistic process will be the examination of site-specific Indian urban developments, social and cultural transformations of individuals and societies. The task will be to find a sonic language that characterises typical urban Indian milieus and their inner dynamics. He will work with Indian percussion musicians from Bangalore and also with video and light artists from Europe to find a performative path between (sound)installation, performance and music for contemporary Indian dance.

That’s the answer I often get when I present my ideas to city councils. I like to inject a little craziness in our day to day lives to bring people together, and challenge the preconception that people in cities are too individualistic and closed off. Because time and time again, I have found that people from all walks of life and cultures are just waiting for opportunities to get together and connect.
