Dada Li - Aquatic Human

PRESENTED ON APR 21, 2018
IN SHENZHEN @ VOL 36

She participated PechaKucha 3 years ago with crutches due to a car accident. Now she has broken the cocoon into a butterfly, becoming the most beautiful mermaid in the sea. It is the best life experience ever, isn't it?

- We are sorry for the poor quality of the recording -

DADA

BY MIGUEL PEREZ-LA PLANTE
@ VOL 137 ON JUN 29, 2016

"The story [we're] telling you tonight is about the first global art movement which started right here, 100 years ago, in the old town of Zurich, in a place called 'The Cabaret Voltaire.'"

Just over 100 years ago, the Dadaists used poetry, prose, parody, and provocation to confront and question the WWI society that brought so much destruction. This "nonsensical" art movement was perhaps the most decisive single influence on the development of twentieth-century art, and its innovations are a continuing source of inspiration to artists today -- Hear from Swiss Embassy Public Affairs head Miguel Perez-LaPlante and curator Yukiko Shikata speak on this radical movement in DADA from PechaKucha Night Tokyo Vol 137.

This was "PechaKucha of the Day" on Wednesday July 13th, 2016.

What is the human? Imagining The Posthuman Self

BY ANATOL BOLOGAN
@ VOL 13 ON DEC 05, 2017

Exploring the confluence of the human body, science and technology
the focus of Anatol Bologan's art-based research is to develop a series of digital and interactive artworks that engage the viewer with the discourse of humanism versus technicism by immersing the viewers into a multisensory interactive space. Interdisciplinary at its core, the project engages scientific, medical and technology-based research and imaging in the fields of human anatomy, perception, neurology and computer science. It uses concepts of artificial intel¬ligence and medical imaging as source material for artwork that consists of digital images, sculptures and interactive installations. The digital paintings, interactive sculptures as well as the interactive installations explore the confluence of human body, science and technology to further enquire and attempt to answer the question: “What is the Human?”
