In this presentation, Travis Johnson explains how social circus is an important self esteem developing tool for everyone. He explains that not only does it provide personal social impact, but it is also designed to build community and provide hope. Most notably for at risk and impoverished youth around the world.

Creative Physics

Lis Chere Thomas is a Detroit-based contemporary circus artist with a creative interpretation of the laws of physics and an above-average appreciation of physical pain. In her words, "art hurts." Lis teaches and performs on aerial fabric, lyra (aerial hoop) and trapeze. She particularly enjoys invented apparatus, multimedia collaborations and performing in unusual locations.

At the Psychedelic Circus

Mark Bergwerff and Jasper de Hoog create atmospheric psychedelic electronical music with their music project “At the Psychedelic Circus”. They perform live on stage and treat their audience to a theatrical audio-visual show, with 3D animation and video mapping. Their goal is to make the music visual and to take the audience on a psychedelic trip. During their PechaKucha presentation Mark and Jasper show us their process: from jam session to live performance.

I grew up in the Circus

Ruby Arrowfield literally grew up in a circus with balancing clown parents called Carrot and Pickles!  Every aspect of her life infused a love of performing and supporting creative expression.  Now Ruby works with the Christchurch Circus Centre who are based in the Roy Stokes hall in New Brighton, which may be pulled down. Ruby is on a campaign to keep the circus alive.
