Jack of all trades, Ross Lunz, is an artist, silver smith, carpenter, firefighter, former commercial fisherman, EMT to list only a few of the many hats Ross has worn throughout his life so far. Asking whether the path he has chosen has been reckless or a series of calculated risks. Ross admits that he is addicted to the rawness.
Ross evacuated New Orleans the Sunday before Katrina and retuned Wednesday with a 14 foot boat and was a freelance USAR (Urban Search and Rescue). First rescuing people than transitioning to animals. Ross learned that he had an aptitude for rescue and became a firefighter.
All Ross’s rich and diverse history bleeds into his studio practice. His work tells a story, often about New Orleans. Now Ross and his wife are onto the next chapter in their lives and moving to New Mexico after being in New Orleans for the past 14 years.
