Past Kalispell Event: VOL 7

Large wide dsc 5676 sml

April 05, 2019
@ Sassafras Ballroom

We've really done it this time, folks. This will be the best PK Kalispell Night yet. Really really.

Featuring the theme Art & Design (again! why? because!) we've hauled in a fantastic line-up of local artists, photographers, designers, illustrators, and magical unicorns ready to blow the tops off of your noggins.

Seeing as this event has grown substantially over the last few years, we will be hosting PK at a larger venue with tons of Kalispell downtown charm and room for everyone (the Sassafras Ballroom above the – you guessed it – Sassafras).

We'll have drinks, snacks, and a donation jar. This event is free.

Drawn From the Present

@ VOL 7 ON APR 05, 2019

Collin Hamman never takes his time for granted and makes a point of using each moment as a possibility for inspration. His graphic design and illustrations are heavily influenced by his time spent in the wilderness of Montana where he sees constant opportunity for the next t-shirt, logo, or printed design work that may come his way. Being self-employed as an artist is never easy, but when you mix pleasure with work the way Collin does, you will always come away fulfilled.

Making art from iron can be a hot, tiring and gritty task, but you would never know it when you see the work of David Secrest. Spanning a career of several decades, Secrest has created a body of work which shows his aptitude for observation, interpretation and a unique gift of craftsmanship. He shows us the tremendous amount of thought, patience and skill it takes to create an elegant piece of art made out of heated, hammered and bent metal.

The Evolution of Interface Design

@ VOL 7 ON APR 05, 2019

We take for granted so much of how our world seemlessly operates from computer to phone to tablet. The facility with which we navigate this world did not come easily and few people can describe that evolution better than Jeremiah Martin. Having worked for Zane Ray Group in Whitefish Montana for the better part of 20 years, Martin has seen the world of web morph from basic HTML to cross platform design. He describes the nuances of our modern interactive world with insight that only a seasoned web designer can provide.

Painted Through the Lens of Life

@ VOL 7 ON APR 05, 2019

Two dimensional art often occurs through a process of discovery combined with release. Finding the perfect color, tone and spatial composition is key to expressing thoughts and ideas in a way that can be felt by others. Olivia Stark is dedicated to her work in this way and it shows through her abstract paintings which are filled with color, poise and clarity. She walks us through recent works that draw directly from her personal experiences and emotional processing of the world around us.
