Jason Goodin talks about Kintsugi, an art form where broken pottery or ceramics is bonded back together, but gold or silver powder is mixed into the resin. When repaired, the piece takes on a new form of life; its fracture becomes its beauty. Rather than hiding the fracture, it can tell a new story that it couldn’t previously tell.
Jillian + Jeff Foster honors the Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month and all the babies that were gone too soon. They will be sharing stories of families that experienced infertility, miscarriage, still birth, and infant loss. It may seem like these incidents are marked by grief. But, it is marked by SO much more!
As far as Kim Dunham's topic, she is graduating in December with a BA in Gender and Women's Studies. Her area of focus was Queer Theory. Her wife is a trans woman and is currently in the beginning stages of physical transition and we have 2 kids (an 8 year old who is hers from a previous relationship and a 5 month old baby). My wife's transition and the birth of a new baby brought about a lot of "boy or girl" talk, and she hopes to shine a light on nonbinary genders.
