2017 Mondial du pain world championship

Born in Lukang Township, Changhua County, Chen Yao Hsun dropped out of senior high school to work as an apprentice at the bakery at the age of 16.  In the past, he worked at Palais Boulangerie in Taichung and Monsieur Ivan Bakery in Japan. Now, he is the chef at Parisbobo Lepain Bakery in Kaohsiung.  Last year, Chen took the first place in Mondial du Pain in Taiwan and won the 2017 world championship in this contest held in France this year.

Born and raised in Twatutia, where modern lifestyle and history collide, Ho graduated from the College of Fine Arts, National Taiwan University of Arts, with double majors in Calligraphic Seal Carving and Modern Art. Since 2000, he has been creating artworks inspired by seal script writing as part of his experimental exhibition series, Writing Words, through observing the evolution of lines manifested by the body at different periods of time. In 2006, he established Timonium Lake. Using the lines and silhouettes of seal script calligraphy as his design methodology, he became a long-time collaborator with creators from different realms. He reinvigorates his design language by drawing upon the nutrients of folk culture and inspiration from the ever-changing trends of contemporary Asian and Taiwanese design.

“Lai zi na li” was created by two 1990s girls passionate for fonts with the goal of promoting Taiwan traditional Chinese character culture. In the hopes of driving traditional Chinese from Taiwan to the world and displaying its beauty. Lai zi na li is the transliteration of “where are you from” in Chinese. The zi in the middle is a pun on the word “font”, and conveys the concept of our team- to promote traditional Chinese characters!

Shikai Tseng is an awards winning multi-disciplinary designer based in Taiwan. His works focus on the exploration of materials, design processes and stories behind, with his sensitive sense, the results are usually poetic and various. His works range cover objects, lighting, furniture, space and food. After graduating with an MA in Design Products from the Royal College of Art in 2011, he founded the London-based, award-winning joint-studios Poetic Lab and Beyond Object and left in mid 2015, and curated two remarkable event - Eataipei for World Design Capital Taipei 2016, and Eatopia for 2016 London Design Biennale Taiwan Pavilion, both focus on how the cultures, issues and histories could be passed to audiences through food and multi-dimensions senses. Shikai now works as an independent designer and curator.
