Through his personal experiences, Uwe Gartenschläger shares with us the difficult history of his home country, Germany.  He courageously welcomes us into the souvenirs of his post-war reality and shares with us stories which have marked his life and the life of so many. He does not leave us with theses tormenting stories but with a positive lesson he learned: Confronting the past and grieving is essential for facing the future.  This is the idea he applied while doing development work in countries also dealing with difficult past such as in Ex-Yugoslavia and Central Asia.

Impressions from Germany and Russia

@ VOL 5 ON MAR 02, 2017

Gerhard Mutz's presentation is a delight for the eyes! It is a succession of amazing pictures taken in Germany and Russia while Gerhard was working for the German Embassy in Moscow. The photographs were presented in Germany and Russia as a photo exhibition entitled “Impressions from Germany and Russia”. It is said that trough his pictures, we can feel the duality of the two world, reflecting the tension of Russia when it declared the Crimea peninsula belonging to their territory.  Perhaps what you will mostly see is the beauty of the pictures, their composition, light, subject, angle… and how Gerhard describes them with such passion!
