"On the 27th of January, 1887, a snowflake apparently fell in Montana, and it was 57cm (22.4in) across ...but they have no proof of that."

In SnowFlakeology from PechaKucha Night Tokyo Vol. 131, PK co-founder Mark Dytham drops some cold hard science on frozen crystals falling from the sky. Whether elaborating on 2-dimensional radiating dendrites crystals, or 3-dimensional Gohei-twin type flakes, or digital ASCII/Unicode icy forms, it's crystal-clear he's done his homework. Simply put, Mark's extensive snowflake knowledge is...well...chilling.

...he definitely didn't flake on this PechaKucha! It snow joke!

Drawing from Technology, Illustrating from Life

@ VOL 131 ON DEC 16, 2015

"Put your hand up, the people who can't draw ... I want to ask these people: Can you make an egg? Can you write your name? Before you could that, you could draw."

If you know the vociferously talented illustrator Luis Mendo, you know just how many pages he fills daily with beautiful, lively drawings In a very special presentation from PechaKucha Night Tokyo Vol. 131, he shows off 20 drawings he made entirely on the iPad Pro, all with the Apple Pencil. Bodies of Art

@ VOL 131 ON DEC 16, 2015

"Something really magical happened... at some point as she was painting me, I felt her story on her body, I felt her pain ... every time she put her ink on my body it was soothing my soul, it was healing.. this mask of color was curing us both."
Filmmaker, artist, performer and sea serpent queen Vittoria Colonna takes us through her creative journey so far which brings her to Kyoto. Here in Japan Vittoria and fellow artist Miki Yokoyama collaborate using each other's bodies as canvases in a performance that blurs the lines between the Art and the Artists themselves.
